Shane Gallimore joined FKNMS in December of 2023 to support Mission: Iconic Reefs. Through field-based restoration and monitoring efforts with the FKNMS team, he aims to understand and improve the impact of restoration efforts throughout the Florida Keys.

Shane received his B.S. in Marine Biology from Stony Brook University in 2018. While there, he worked as a Lab Technician at the Stony Brook Southampton Campus for Dr. Bradley Peterson, assisting with Seagrass Restoration Efforts and research.

In 2019, he accepted an internship with Coral Restoration Foundation™, and moved to the Florida Keys. After spending 15 months as an intern, he was hired onto the Restoration team as a Restoration Associate. Shane conducted over 1000 scientific dives with CRF™ over nearly 5 years leading coral husbandry, coral restoration and monitoring efforts. He also attained his Divemaster and Instructor SCUBA certifications, and spent time teaching at Horizon Divers in Key Largo.
